Livin' in a pink ghetto

It seems that LiveJournal is a low class, trivial and contemptible place to host one's blog - read [livejournal.com profile] bradhicks on the subject here. That is, of course, if you regard the profound, intelligent discourse on Slashdot as being more important than trivial, girlish postings like [livejournal.com profile] misia's on the unspeakably evil murder of Jasmine Archie by her mother.

But I guess that the death of a twelve-year old girl in Alabama (just like the death of at least 219 women every day as a result of illegal, unsafe abortions) is trivial, as it only concerns women, and immoral, un-Christian women at that.

If I had a shred of male dignity and moral integrity, I'd close down my contribution to this stinking, woman-loving, liberal den of trivia right away and set up a Proper Blog elsewhere; trouble is, I'm just too corrupt and feminised to do it.

Ho hum.

As soon as I saw the mention of the LiveJournal outage on Slashdot, I could pretty much predict the first five comments. A lot of posters on Slashdot trivialize LiveJournal community, but then a lot of people there trivialize the Slashdot community as well.

Thanks for the pointer to BradHicks.

Well, quite.

I keep a MT installation because when I first wanted to have a crack at a mobile/picture/weblog (I can't stand the term 'blog' and 'moblog' is worse), there wasn't anything else out there that looked like a useful thing.

The feeling of running that is as described in the comments to Mr Hicks' posting - there is no audience.

LJ's alleged female domination is a Good Thing.

One could just as easily characterize other blog sites as places to find people who are very good at posting links to interesting websites, but have nothing interesting to say themselves. And no doubt be equally wrong.
