This morning's radio has provided an interesting compare&contrast between the 90th anniversary of Armistice Day and the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht.
At the cemetery at Ypres, where a quarter of a million died, there is a wall with the names of 35,000 whose remains were never found.
It was mentioned that (only?) 90 people were killed on Kristallnacht, but not that 1,000 synagogues -- every synagogue in Germany which was not too close to adjacent buildings to be a fire hazard to them -- was burned to the ground.

They were all innocent, too.
