Farewell...

Just got back from Clifton Down, watching Concorde fly over on her last ever flight on the way to Filton.

Noisy, ecologically vile, cramped, expensive, beautiful, glorious, a triumph of engineering and human creativity... She shouldn't be grounded; the air is her element.

I was told by someone who knows, that Airbus wanted to charge £125 million or so a year maintenance per Concorde. I don't think even Virgin could afford that... It was that charge that scuppered BA's plans to keep one in the air for shows and special occasions.
