Thought of this one /years/ ago when I met my first serious (and occasionally improvisational) knitter.

Snag is, of course, that she wasn't so much a hacker as the actual computer doing the running. With an occasional little self-modifying routine. Less than a pleasant thing to be, I'd have thought. Well, if they're self-aware computers...
