It's baffled me for a long time just how the RIAA has got away with its demonisation of MP3 file sharing - why they do so is clear enough; anything that challenges their profits and, more important, their control has to be trashed.

They are, however, an organisation that has specialised in screwing both ends for well over half a century - musicians worse than punters, for the most part - and it was refreshing and cheering to find this article by Janis Ian.

Read it.

You ever know that you've done something before, but can't remember exactly how or where, or any useful pattern to grep for to find your previous solution?

Grrr.

And the edit control on this web submission form isn't big enough for my current music. Must get round to installing a proper LJ client soon.

Oh, and I'm listening to John Cale / Terry Riley - The Hall of Mirrors in the Palace at Versailles FWIW :)
