not nailed down...
Sep. 21st, 2006 02:21 pmIt’s a small thing in the general scheme of things
ramtops and I inhabit at the moment, but I discovered this morning that someone has stolen our wheelbarrow. It’s unlikely it was a spur of the moment thing, or taken by anyone outside our immediate locale, as it was lurking in the gap between the car on our back drive and the wall and fairly well obscured by encroaching vegetation between it and the road (our back drive covers the start of a culvert that temporarily consumes the stream at the bottom of our garden; that’s what’s on the other side of the wall).
I bought the thing years ago when I dug the pnod; it’s probably been used a couple of times since and, as was, had sat for several years full to overflowing with soil giving forth a wide variety of self-seeded plantlife - it’s not as though we actually use the thing - but that’s barely relevant. We now have a barrow-sized heap of soil where it was (and no barrow to shift it).
If whoever it was had asked to borrow it, we’d have gladly said yes; we might even have given them it if they wanted: to just wander in, tip its contents out, and trundle it away without so much as a by your leave seems, well, a little rude. At least they managed not to scratch the car as they did it...
