unfitituditiousness
Sep. 8th, 2004 07:06 pmI've not been to the gym for something like a month and a half: I stopped when I contracted some odd sort of chest infection which had the, as yet unexplained, side effect of rendering my legs partially uncontrollable. It was most peculiar, felt like my knees were only loosely coupling my legs to my thighs, and it lasted for several weeks. Not conducive to half-hour sessions on the X-trainer.
Whatever.
I finally went back yesterday, to discover even greater physical degradation than I had feared. Down from 4k4 on the X-trainer to 3k7, and all my muscles seem to be reduced to some sort of non-structural jelly. Either that, or the gym have swapped out all the machine weights for depleted uranium replacements.
I'm posting now, 24 hours after I got home, as only now is my body starting to protest; I'd actually been hoping I'd avoided this pain by not pushing myself too hard, but my chest, shoulder and thigh muscles are working to a different agenda. Still, I can only hope that my body will remember and recover its inner powers reasonably quickly with the reapplication of regular torture.
[EDIT: thanks to
ramtops for pointing out the, now fixed, greengrocer's apostrophe. I must be in an even worse state than I had realised]
