Just got back from Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer at Colsonall; was dead good if personally depressing inasmuch as the chap can still play guitar frighteningly well. Good energy flowing between the two of them - as indeed there should be after playing together 25+ years - a review I read (in Sounds?) sometime in the late 70's[1] noted that Beck's guitar and Hammer's synth had become essentially indistinguishable - this is still occasionally the case. A fine rhythm section of two brothers whose names I didn't pick up but whose ages summed must have been significantly less than that of either of the principals.
Beck looked remarkably spry, nay unchanged from the days of Blow by Blow or Wired, though (at 60) I guess the mullet was a wig :) ; Hammer OTOH bears (as
ramtops noted) a disturbing resemblance to our friend Chris (WINOLJ).
[1] /\/\ac has just found a reference to that gig, in 1976: apparantly the only time before the current tour that they played together live in the UK.
