[livejournal.com profile] ramtops and I have just got home from the Ashton Court festival. We didn't actually see any bands as such, just hung out, ate food and browsed stalls. I now have an embroidered t-shirt resplendant with flame-wrapped yin/yang and amethyst dragons to supplement my old (like 20+ years old :) one that still has perfect embroidery but less t-shirt with every wash. Mac has an excellent new poncho.

It's been a beautiful evening, a good end to a good weekend (which feels a slightly odd thing to say as both of us have spent large tracts of it working; but work that goes well and isn't pressured or interrupted by phone calls isn't a strain).

A thought, or rather: a question, though. Why do people of all ages, genders and apparent backgrounds refuse to throw their crap away, as opposed to dropping it where they stand? Ashton Court was flooded with regularly emptied bins - glass, metal and general - but still the entire site was covered in discarded bottles, tins and food trays. As someone who won't even drop a sweet wrapper, I'm utterly baffled by this: do people do this out of malice or are they just oblivious? I can't believe it's laziness when there's a bin four or five yards away...

They do it because they're arrogant ignorant mouth-breathing fuckwits who either don't give a shit or are too used to there being 'poor people' around to tidy up after them. So, regardless of class, they just don't notice - it's a non-problem. I've not travelled widely, but I've yet to find a country so full of waste as this one, human or otherwise.

It's because they don't give a shit and no-one's allowed to make them any more.

Ah, we were wondering if we were going to see you at the bouncy castle party!

Never mind...

Wanted to come, but the toll of miles defeated us; we're knackered and Brissle->Horsham and back was too much.

Sounds like it was a good night, from what [livejournal.com profile] mindygoth said.
