Yesterday afternoon, Iggy came home through the study fanlight.

In a wettish sort of manner:
iggy being wet

Moments later, Mustrum did the same:
mustrum likewise wet

Now, the spotties have Previous on vigorous discussions of one sort or another; the pnod appeared undisturbed, so we can only guess that some strange event encouraged them both to conclude their conversation in the stream at the end of the garden.

Why remains a mystery, but I don't try and analyse the cats' motives; that way really lies madness...

In my experience the event need not be so strange. If sufficiently distracted I've known cats to forget entirely about adjacent bodies of water until it's too late. The best example that comes to mind being one of my parent's cats who use to roll over to have his belly rubbed at the drop of a hat. So ingrained was this habit that one day while sitting beside the pond he went to get into position when he saw me coming, only to discover that the five centimetre strip between him and the water was simply not enough space in which to perform such a maneouvre. he ended up very wet.
