Appointment with the neurologist came through this morning: 14th December at the Eye Hospital.

Just as well I’m neither in a hurry for it, nor expecting anything useful from it ;)

How has the optic neuritis been treating you lately? I've had a couple months of it to deal with so far with no end in sight.

It's been pretty much flat for the last month or two now; nothing I can really perceive as improvement. The state of my right eye is kind of hard to describe (though I guess you can probably work on that yourself).

I can see through it, but there's something like a diffraction filter across my vision; it's pretty much pin sharp in bits, but blurred or going on non-existent in others. I get the feeling that my brain is doing a lot of compensation and extra post-processing too.

Everything I've heard or read reckons that I should (eventually) end up at something approaching what I had before, but I guess that I'm up at the shallow end of the curve now and it'll take a good while to get there.

At a couple of months, I was just starting up recovery: my low point was at maybe one to one and a half months, so you should be seeing clear improvement soon if your condition is anything like mine. SAP consultancy though? Rather you than me :)

I can see in my left eye well enough to walk around but reading is out of the question. I've related this to wearing a smudged lens over my left eye. I've also noticed my left eye feeling "tired" quicker than usual. Later in the evening I'll frequently find myself relaxing my focus and then I'm seeing double. What astounds me is that with all the breakthroughs that have been made in medicine... there seems to be little to no treatments for this if one doesn't have MS. I guess it's more "cool" to do cancer research.

The waiting game to see if I wind up in the 7% that don't recover is pretty much driving me nuts.

Oh the consulting biz isn't so bad as long as one doesn't mind being on the road. It's steady work and pays the bills. Who knows? Maybe it'll get me over there one day so I can watch the current Doctor Who episodes instead of being a season (or two) behind.
